How do I deploy cards from my hand to the game board?
The basic mechanic is to simply drag and drop them from your hand onto the game map. If you look at the bottom of the “Main Game Interface” you will see a panel of cards displayed. This is your “Game Card Interface” and it is a panel that can be displayed and hidden by left clicking on the “Display Hand” button in the bottom left corner of the screen.

There are two types of displays actually. One for cards drawn from you deck and one for tactic cards created by your heroes during the game. Cards drawn from your deck consist of Hero, Unit, Facility and Attack cards (Attack cards are not deployed to the board but rather return to your hand after a mission). There are different rules for deploying each of these different types of cards.

Hero and Unit Cards:
These types of cards must be dragged from the hand and dropped onto a hex containing a stronghold or outpost that is under your control and not currently besieged by enemy forces. You must also have both sufficient action points and resources available to pay for the card’s deployment. Icons on the right hand side of the card indicate the cost in action points and resources to deploy a card. You must left click on the desired hero or unit card and holding the mouse button down drag it over the hex containing the stronghold or outpost.

Drag and Drop Example for Hero or Unit
Release the mouse button with the mouse pointer over the target hex and the card will disappear and be place in the garrison that exists at every stronghold or outpost location. You can now view the card in the garrison by left clicking on the faction’s army icon that is displayed in the same hex as the outpost or stronghold.

Facility Cards:

This type of card is also dragged from the hand to the game board and released over the hex in which the player desires to deploy the facility. However only outpost and minefield cards can be deployed to a hex where no other facility card exists. Outposts and stronghold cards function as the foundation upon which a base is built. Here are the basic rules for outpost, minefield and other support facility cards:
Outposts: In order to deploy an outpost, a hero or unit card with the “engineer” special ability must be present in the target hex. The army containing the hero or engineer unit must not be stealthed. The hex cannot contain a friendly outpost or enemy facility. The hex must also be controlled by the player’s faction and in supply. You must left click on the desired outpost card and holding the mouse button down drag it over the valid hex containing the hero or engineer unit. Release the mouse button with the mouse pointer over the valid target hex and the card will disappear and a base icon with your faction symbol will appear in the hex. You can now view the outpost card by left clicking on the faction’s base icon.

Minefields: In order to deploy a minefield card a unit card with the “engineer” special ability must be present in the target hex. The army containing the engineer unit must not be stealthed. The hex cannot contain a friendly outpost or enemy facility. The hex must also be controlled by the player’s faction and in supply. You must left click on the desired minefield card and holding the mouse button down drag it over the valid hex containing the engineer unit. Release the mouse button with the mouse pointer over the valid target hex and the card will disappear and a base icon with your faction symbol will appear in the hex. You can now view the minefield card by left clicking on the faction’s base icon.

Support Facility Cards (Laboratories, Academies, Intel Centers, etc.): In order to deploy a support facility card, a friendly stronghold or outpost must be present in the target hex. The stronghold or outpost must have room available to accommodate the facility card. Stronghold and outpost cards can accommodate a number of support facility cards equal to the facility level of the stronghold or outpost. The facility level can be increased by upgrading the card. The base must also not be under siege. You must left click on the desired facility card and holding the mouse button down drag it over the valid hex containing the stronghold or outpost. Release the mouse button with the mouse pointer over the valid target hex and the card will disappear. You can now view the facility card by left clicking on the faction’s base icon in the target hex.
