Curing the Plague

Postby SamA » Fri Jan 23, 2009 10:36 pm

So I'm playing against the Plague Bearers for the first time, and I can't work out how to actually tell my scientists to research a cure. I have a lab, I have a geneticist all ready to go, but when I click on the Genetics option for him, it just brings up a menu of standard genetics. There's no plague cure option. I'm assuming I need to right click somewhere else, but no dice so far.

Can someone break it down for me?

It usually appears with the right click - do you actually *have* the plague yet?

Or maybe you don't have the AP for it - 9ap irrc

Yeah, that was the problem -- I'd done such a good job of killing plague bearers as soon as they showed up that I hadn't actually been infected myself. I was just trying to cure nearby resource hexes. Once I actually caught it I was given the option to develop a cure.

Sometimes it's worth sending a recon unit out to deliberately 'obtain a sample' to give your scientists something to chew on. :P

Is it possible for the enemy unit or emplacement to catch the plague from infected, stealthed units hidden in their hex?

Hah! That's something I don't know the answer to but that would be awesome!

I tried it and it didn't work, but that may not mean it's impossible.
